Welcome to my blog!

If you are in for an adventure paired with lengthy, quirky, brutal honest thoughts then you are in the right place.

My name is Arisa and was a cosplayer for 12 years in Malaysia before settling down in Kyoto, Japan. Exploring Japan full time has been a long time dream of mine, so let's explore it together!

Frozen Olaf Plushie DIY

Yes the crazy hashtag I've made #StillNotOverFrozen was one thing so true that i can't deny because who can ever get bored of Disney's creations?
Hardcore Disney fan to the very end lol Did you even know that Nightmare Before Christmas by Tim Burton was also a Disney production? :-P
Not all shows are about happy endings and princesses eh?

The ever lovable Olaf who loves warm hugs! I would give anything to have a real life Olaf companion haha! I mean..who doesn't?
If you hate the Olaf, you are in need of serious therapy with the psychologist.

This idea originally came from googling olaf D.I.Y templates after so many failures of trying to make a HUGE LIFE SIZE plush of Olaf for my upcoming shoot since searching on so many websites i couldn't find one was at least decently priced with shipping.

First thing in my mind was I have hit "JACKPOT!", and it's talking too! But the downside to it was it is only available for pick up in the States and they do not offer delivery worldwide for this particular item *sobs*
Loads on you were helpful in aiding my Olaf search by suggesting me websites that ships internationally, my uttermost gratitude to all of you for being so awesome *hugs* but sorry to waste your efforts because of my budget limit of USD 40 (most i would go is also USD 50) >.<
But every auction site i came across like amazon or ebay, it's either out of stock or they put it on auction that goes up to USD 90! That's just plain INSANE. WTF!! 凸ಠ益ಠ)凸
Things people do to cheat others.

So far no one has attempted to make a life size Olaf (or crazy enough to even consider it) so I've decided to remake the Olaf plushie for the 3rd time. Yes, I've wasted so much fabric on this experiment itself because i wasn't sure about the measurements.
But might add that if you are living in Malaysia felt cloth and googly-eyes are easily available at the Arts N' Craft section in Daiso (lifesaver ♥).

Aside from just making the life size ones, in between my breaks i tried to experiment making a miniature one that was inspired from this finger puppet tutorial by The Idea Room
http://www.theidearoom.net/2014/01/olaf-finger-puppet-pattern.html

She has tons of friendly activities that could be enjoyed by people of all ages, doesn't mean making craft stuff is just for children. Sometimes handmade stuff makes the best gift ever :-)
So throw your rich materialistic ego aside and get your hands dirty to make that special someone smile, i can guarantee you that this is totally worth it!

Items all available at Daiso!

The glue gun is for the nose since and the UHU glue is for sticking parts that are impossible to sew such as the arms, feet, eyes and mouth.

The template is easily available for print here: http://www.theidearoom.net/2014/01/olaf-finger-puppet-pattern.html
I only enlarged it to make the plushie a big bigger because the original was too small.

As you can see from the template that the body is actually joined together but since i didn't want to use marker to draw the eyebrows and body lines. so I split the "F" part into 3 pieces like this :-

Cut the felt cloth out accordingly x2 pieces of each body part including the arms and feet.
Using the typical 'Insang Pari' stitch like the one i used on my chocolate chip plushie named CHIP: http://www.arisachow.com/2013/10/diy-chocolate-chip-ahoy.html

"Hi, I'm Olaf and I like warm hugs!"

It's not hard to make at all can be done within an hour or 2 (depending on your concentration), It took my 2 hours because of watching a movie while sewing XD lol.
You can easily glue on a pin to make it into a badge or add on a key ring to make it a keychain.

Finished olaf should look like this :-)
Hope you enjoyed making your very own mini olaf plush!
