Oh the attention i'm getting! Stop it ya'll *blush*  Can't believe i'm actually sharing this post but yeah..think dee...

Spotlight IPC Grand Opening (14/3/15)!

It's been quite some time now that you guys noticed over my posts from Facebook and instagram that i was kinda ecstatic ever since the announcement, renovation to the opening of Spotlight in IPC (Ikano Power Center) which their grand launch is this Saturday, 14th April.
So now all craft, home deco, fashion designers & cosplayers from PJ can easily access to one of Australia's biggest Arts & Craft & Home Deco retail store near them instead of having to travel all the way down to KL, Ampang Point where their first store was launched last year :D

Yea, i was crazy enough to go there on the first day of the launch at Ampang Point and imagine the crowd of excited people waiting just to raid Spotlight, you can read about my previous experience here: http://www.arisachow.com/2014/07/spotlight-in-malaysia.html.

But no regrets, so here am i again today going to brave through the massive crowd this Saturday at IPC to buy more materials for my upcoming costumes as now they are having superb deals not to be missed (up to 40% off!). So if you do bump into me on saturday, don't forget to say hi ok? :D
"Let us go on a cosplay material hunting rampage!"
*CHARGEEEEEEEEEEEEEE*

Actually i am pretty glad this time i was invited to witness the media launch all thank to a very special team (you guys know who you are *hugs*) and didn't expect to be one step closer to my dream ever since i discovered the joy of spotlight last year :')
This year i promise to work extra harder to spread this joy to all the cosplayers out there in Malaysia who has struggled as much as i had in the past when it comes to sourcing for materials. So stay tuned for exciting projects with Spotlight this year and hopefully the collaborations go through~^^ * fingers crossed*

This 2nd store of Spotlight in IPC is in fact x2 times bigger than their first store, estimating about 2000 square meters located at beside Popular Bookstore, 2nd Floor of IPC.
Used to the the old location of the Safari pet store with the crazy looking pink rabbit remember? lol.

Best of them all is getting to meet Spotlight's general Marketing Manager, Jono Gelfand who came all the way down from Australia to give us media people a tour around the store. This latest store wouldn't be a success without their amazing team that worked hard, so make sure to smile & say thank you to everyone of their staffs k?

As usual most of you would be asking what's great to get here in Spotlight as they are having awesome opening sales from 14th March - 24th March 2015.
Best part is it's right after CNY, so we have extra angpao to spend. No reason to say pokkai ok? :-P
Doors officially open at 10am but i can predict a long queue outside there starting to build by 8 am lol because they will be giving out prizes that consists of Gift Cards & goodies up for grabs. Not to mention make sure to sign up & pick up you VIP member card to enjoy great discounts.

For parents who are bringing their kids along, there are activities to keep your kids occupied as you shop such as clown gags, arts & craft sessions and face painting too!

PROMOTIONS ARE IN-STORES, No vouchers needed, just make sure to get your VIP cards on that day itself (FOC)! :D
Discounts for Home, Window, Craft, Party & Sewing up to 40% off.
So if you are looking for materials to decorate your new home/ makeover now is the best time to head over to Spotlight, IPC. Trust me, their deals are seriously irresistible and you confirm end up buying more than you expect 8D hoho~ From my experience la.

All fabrics (curtain, quilting, fashion) are currently at 30% off which is sweet!  And look what fabric that reminded everyone of me (my Elsa) lol this organza with glitter snowflakes really completes any Frozen themed outfit wei, not going to make another Elsa dress i promise :-P Maybe designed an inspired version for casual wear? Lol.

If i am not mistaken here seems to have more variety ranging from fur designs (price range for fur RM64.99- RM229.99 before 30% discount) to 4-way stretched lining which is suitable for zentai/ body suits. One thing i can vouch for is they def' have more colour selections compared to any fabric store i have ever visited in Malaysia.

Those who like quilting, here if your space of heaven ;-)
Most of my costumes that uses prints are usually bought from the quilt section like my Rapunzel & Nana costume, because they are cotton so it's quite easy to work with.

Yes, this time Spotlight's opening theme is in conjunction with  March's NATIONAL CRAFT MONTH. So they have organized special craft sessions with renown local craft experts like:- Craft Passion and many more. Stand a chance to learn making pop up cards, own stamps and pom pom keychains from the experts themselves.

Crafty-Licious Surprise @ Ampang Point
So throughout the entire month of March Spotlight will be organizing mini festivals like Arts & Craft Fest, Sew & Quilt Fest and Scrap Fest using materials obtainable from Spotlight Ampang Point.
Stay tuned on their website for more details, major cash prizes, sewing machines, gift cards and many more to be won.

Okay, here is a section specifically for those looking for basic/ beginner sewing machines as i have received many inquiries on which model to get as Spotlight is selling them are such great prices for both portable & industrial kinds.
Spotlight is awesome for offering so many renown brands like Semco, Singer, Brother & Husqvarna price ranges as low as RM339 to RM1269.

If you just need a basic sewing machine to make own clothings, simple costumes, curtains, bedsheets..etc you wouldn't need a high end industrial kind unless your profession requires you to have one such as a full time tailor/ costume maker, etc. If not it would be quite a waste having such a powerful machine but barely use lol.

Honestly though i sew quite alot i am using a basic portable sewing machine BROTHER (Model: GS2700) and it works fine, even manage to sew PVC but that you might need to change to a thicker needle (they have different sizes available @ spotlight) la :-P
If not it would damage both your fabric or needle if the thickness of both of them is not compatible. From the options above, i would suggest their BROTHER (AS1430S) decent entry level that Spotlight is offering that saves you RM250 Off the original price!

Suggestion List & Reasons

Portable Machine:
  • BROTHER (AS1430S)- RM439 (Reg.Price: RM689)
  • This brand confirmed can easily get it serviced if you machine is acting up or anything.
Industrial:
  •  SINGER (4423) - RM1069 (Reg.Price: RM1269)
  • The price already says it all, if you have been looking for portable industrial machines, this would be the best choice. From my experience of buying the industrial sewing machine that is installed into the table, it is heavy as hell @_@ Not convenient at all to move around, might as well get this lol.
Overlock Machine:
  • BROTHER (3034D) -RM1405 (Reg.Price: RM1909)
  • I am currently using this model to overlock my sewings and my feedback for this is superb, though i bought this machine like 2 years ago this brand is easy to get it serviced as BROTHER brand service centre is available all over klang valley.

If you are looking for adjustable mannequins, look no further. Reputable brands all comes with 25% off now. I bought my project runway mannequin for only RM794.99 when original price is RM1059.99 ;-) Save quite a sum actually, best birthday present i have gotten myself for this year! Was actually planning to use this money to go only a holiday but i guess sewing is more important *priorities gone case lel*

Finally found a mannequin that has small bust & waist that is adjustable to the maximum measurement of 35" (for bust) and it comes in size S, M & L. I obviously bought "S" because im flat chest but flat is justice yo~ :-P

And here is my "Pre Loot" from yesterday 8D

Yes i bought the Olaf Bottle! Guilty as charged!!! I couldn't resists 8D lol, well no regrest~

So can't wait to raid the place again this saturday! See you guys there at 10am :D
